CFD Investigation of Ventilation Strategies to Remove Contaminants from a Hospital Room

The primary requirement in designing air conditioning systems healthcare facilities is eliminating contaminants. It considered one of the crucial health elements building design, particularly presence many airborne diseases such as COVID-19. purpose this numerical research to simulate various ventilation designs for a hospital room model by taking into account results obtained previous researchers. Four with three airflows, 9, 12, and 15 ACH (Air Change per Hour), are applied explore capacity system remove objective determine influence airflow diffuser location distribution on pollutants elimination represented carbon dioxide. Reynold Averaged Navier–Stokes (RANS) equations k-ε turbulence were used underlying mathematical airflow. In addition, boundary conditions extracted from ASHRAE (American Society Heating, Refrigeration, Air-Conditioning Engineers Society) publications relevant literature. Contrary what was expected, study’s demonstrated that increased alone does not always improve or more pollutant removal significantly affected outlet’s location.
